As per his own quote, "The most entertaining outcome is the most likely".

If he really goes on with creating this party, this outcome shall be very entertaining one way or another, I will give him that.

If he were truly trying to challenge Trump, he would do what he said a few days ago and use his money to primary all Republicans currently in office.

Anything else is pure theatre.

He's going to end up in jail or deported at this rate. The current crop of politicians have no inhibitions to do what they please irrespective of laws.

I feel like the there's a fairly limited market for people who like Musk but do not like Trump.

There's a pretty large market for people who mostly like Trump but side with Musk on balancing the budget and don't trust Repubs to get there.

See, this is the thing, I don't think there is. Like, maybe low single-digit percentages, but Trump is very good at getting his people to fall in line, and balancing the budget, for most Republicans, seems to be more a kind of symbolic creed than an actual goal.

If one was serious about balancing the budget, why would one vote for Trump, who, remember, _already_ massively expanded the deficit in his first term?

> The “America Party,” he indicated, will not attempt to win every election but will instead target a select number of crucial races with highly concentrated efforts.

"Highly concentrated efforts" meaning "whatever makes Musk richer", of course.
